The Wirral Festival of Music, Speech and Drama started life in 1949 as the Bromborough Festival. At this time Wirral was home to a number of competitive performance festivals including the Wallasey Music Festival and the Pensby Festival but over time these others have faded into history, leaving Bromborough, as the lone survivor. Bromborough Festival adopted the mantle of the Wirral Festival in 2003 to better reflect .
Organisers are now making plans for the 2018 festival and are currently accepting entry forms for the festival which can be downloaded on the festival website www.wirralfestival.co.uk The competition is open to all ages, from under 8’s to over 80’s and applications are welcome from any singers, instrumentalists, choirs, orchestras, speakers and actors who wish to perform during the festival.
The festival takes place at Birkenhead High School Academy over the weekends of 9th and 10th of March for Speech and Drama and 16th and 17th March for Music. It is a celebration of the performing arts with participants providing days of entertainment for eager audiences to enjoy. Anyone wishing to complete an application form to perform at the festival has until 31st January 2018 to do so and can download the forms from the festival website at www.wirralfestival.co.uk
