New WaterAid school workshops
Published on 15-09-2011 11:13PMWaterAid are launching a new pilot scheme, taking fun and interactive workshops into schools. The workshops will be run by a team of dedicated volunteers all of which are fully trained and CRB checked.
Workshops are available for key stages 2, 3 and 4 and cover an introduction to the work of WaterAid, a simulation activity, campaigning and fundraising. Workshops will begin to be rolled out from July 2011.
The workshops can fit in around citizenship, geography and PSHE, as well as off timetable days examining the work of charities, fundraising and campaigning. A mixture of group work, discussion, quizzes, games and presentations are used and stimulus materials such as posters, campaign materials and films make the workshops suitable for all abilities.
As the workshops are interactive, they are not suitable for groups with more than 30 participants. For assemblies or large groups, a speaker may be more suitable and can be requested by filling in a speaker request form, available here.
The school workshop programme is currently a small pilot project so we cannot guarantee that a volunteer will be available in your area, however please feel free to get in touch with Rebecca Dallison, who will be able to advise you of availability.
