Green Up Your Act Education

We provide one-off eco workshops as well as regular eco programmes for early years to sixth form. Our programmes are designed to provide a rich experience and learning on a range of subjects including environmental protection, biodiversity and healthy living. We run one-off events or eco-weeks as well as regular school clubs or can help schools in working towards Eco School Flags. Our programmes are individually tailored to your school, including number of sessions and academic level.

Over the last 7 years we have worked with over a hundred different schools across the UK and our work has proven to be both educational and fun. Everything made or grown can be taken home to enjoy:

“The structure of the lesson worked really well. He pitched the subject perfectly for their age; this was then followed by the wonderful practical craft exercise that engaged all the children. The teacher was really good at emphasizing our group and support values. An unforgettable Eco Day thanks Green Up Your Act!”

'Green Shoots' workshop gives Students an insight into where their food comes from. We discuss seasonal food and its nutritional value. Our practical exercise of making hand made paper pots with seedlings, to take home or grow at school, is an effective way of learning about food and how it's produced and packaged.

‘Up-cycling’ workshop addresses the issue of reducing waste to have a positive impact on our world. As landfill sites are filling up we explore an alternative to incineration through making use of redundant material. As a practical exercise we use the tetra-pack-to-wallet design to demonstrate a meaningful transformation of objects we regard as rubbish.

‘Biodiversity’ workshop teaches students to increase the biodiversity in their school environment and understand its importance. As a measure of our eco-systems greater biodiversity implies health. Through making a butterfly café or a bug barn , composting with worms or making a stag beetle mansion children learn why bugs and small animals are so important.

‘Pop Up Allotment’ workshop opens up the possibilities in growing food. Using redundant recycling boxes we will create an ideal environment for growing a whole range of fruit and vegetables, plus we’ll also be maintaining our reduce, reuse, recycle ethos. Children can place their luscious container gardens anywhere around the school, even moving them for different weather conditions and sunlight.

All plants and materials are supplied.
