Sefton Arts aims to make the arts, in all its forms, accessible to everyone. They use all their venues and departments across the borough to make this happen (Southport Arts Centre, Crosby Civic Hall, Atkinson Art Gallery, Botanic Gardens Museum and the Arts Development team).
Whether you are looking for visual art exhibitions and tours, workshops, painting of the month talks, Museum exhibitions with hands on activities, performing arts (including children’s theatre, drama or dance), they have a varied programme for all ages and stages of education and the national curriculum.
Past events have included schools performances of the former Children’s Poet Laureate, Michael Rosen, an adaptation of Micheal Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful, 1st World War poetry from Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon in Not About Heroes and world class contemporary dance with supporting education workshops from Bare Bones.
Sefton Arts have a regular programme of children’s theatre that runs throughout the season and even have a dedicated weeklong festival (Play Up! – Theatre for Young Imaginations) for children and their families. In recent years this has also involved placing free children’s theatre in Primary Schools.
Sefton Arts are always happy to discuss educational requirements and activities based around any of their performances, events or activities.
