Bring out your sense of adventure! For 20 years, Black Rock Outdoors Ltd has been providing outdoor pursuits for schools, supervised by experienced and fully qualified staff. There’s a whole range of exciting challenges on offer and real opportunities to create life-long interests in the great outdoors. From single-activity courses to residential courses and mix-and-match days, all age ranges and abilities are catered for and the necessary equipment supplied. We are able to accommodate large groups at our Activity base between Bridgwater and Taunton
Open all year, our Activity Centre is the location for most of the Activities that we offer. Whether it’s a half-day taster you want, a day of activity or a residential week, we give students a taste of fun and physical challenge, as well as team-building skills. Choose from:
Kayaking – Takes place on a sheltered, private lake at Cobbs Cross Farm, slow-moving rivers in Somerset or at other venues in the South West. Half-day sessions are ideal as an introduction to kayaking but we can run more advanced courses for full or half days.
High Ropes Course – A ‘Development’ course and group activity, encouraging everyone to work together and support one another.
Mooreland and Mountain Walking – We can supply qualified support for groups and schools wishing to visit mountain and moorland areas in the UK. This can include Ten Tors and Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Training.
Low Ropes Course – Very much a teamwork activity, suitable for all ages. Can be booked for a half day, as part of a full day of Team Building or alongside other activities such as High Ropes, Kayaking and Archery at Cobbs Cross Farm.
Archery – Can be a single session or can be combined with other activities that we base at Cobbs Cross Farm to make a full day.
Raft Building – Popular with young people from the age of nine or so upwards, this is held on a sheltered lake at Cobbs Cross Farm and will be supervised by a qualified instructor who will give advice and supply safety support.
Mountain Biking – Run as half-day or full-day sessions on the Quantock or Mendip Hills. The emphasis is on safe and enjoyable riding on tracks and trails in controlled conditions.
Bridge Building– A suitable challenge for those who can plan, design and tie knots - be prepared to get rather wet if you can’t! A team-building activity.
Caving – A very popular and challenging activity under the Mendip Hills. Caves are chosen to suit the ability and age of the group. We also run ‘Caving and Climbing Days’.
Rock Climbing – We specialise in introductory sessions for groups but can run sessions for more advanced climbers. Generally held on the limestone crags of Mendip.
