Farmer Ted’s is a family run business which aims to combine farming, fun and education so that children can enjoy learning about animals, habitats and food production within a safe, stimulating and engaging environment. Farmer Ted’s is a perfect ‘learning outside the classroom’ experience and provide a fully scheduled day on the farm between 10.30 pm – 2.30 pm and ending with a milking demonstration.

Park rangers are available to escort your group throughout the day. The Farm has many animals including pigs, goats, sheep, cows, ponies, horses, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, chicken and even llamas. A fun tractor ride will transport you around the fields to see the various animals and their habitats. Farmer Ted’s is an ideal venue for reception class to year 6 and can make arrangements for older groups, providing a full timetable of rewarding activities, with prior notice, to ensure your group get maximum benefit from their day on the farm.

The most popular topics covered are farming and food (from field to fork), farm animals and their offspring, habitats, the seasons and mini beasts. Mini Beasts is an enthralling, hands-on experience with exotic animals ranging from hissing cockroaches, spiders and even a resident Boa Constrictor. Other members of the mini beasts crew include a collection of snakes, frogs, tarantula and many more species. Pupils are able to meet, touch and in some cases hold the animals and will also learn about such topics as life cycles and food webs.

Another activity proving a great success is their ‘Schools Writing Tour which is aimed at older children and involves an historical tour of the farm, buildings and fields explaining how they are managed throughout the seasons. Visiting schools will be charged per child with one teacher free with every 5 pupils. A farm visit is an educational trip which is fully timetabled and although there will be play time it is not wholly recreational.
