At the EcoTech Centre students can explore issues of environment, sustainability and renewable energy in an interesting and fun way. Their education programme offers students a range of activities, including the exciting opportunity to visit the only climbable wind turbine in the world that is open to the public and school groups!
The turbine has been specially designed to accommodate visitors. Students can climb the spiral staircase to the viewing platform for views over the local town and countryside with the horizon stretching to three counties. All tours are with our experienced and knowledgeable guides.
The programme also includes hands-on activities, helping students to understand important ecological and environmental issues facing the planet and to understand their role in finding solutions. The visit is structured and students will move from activity to activity and have the opportunity to take part in each one.
Whilst at the EcoTech Centre students can also visit the award winning organic biodiversity garden and see the tracking solar panel, the largest in the UK, and experience the Eco-Building. The centre also has a small, reasonably priced gift shop and café, and full toilet facilities.
Groups are welcome to use the indoor or outdoor facilities for their packed lunches. The cost has been held at £6 per student with accompanying adults free of charge.
The Ecotech Centre can provide their risk assessments and can also advise on health and safety, availability and booking details. They can also offer variations to their normal schedules. Details of our education programme can be found on our website www.ecotech.org.uk.
