We are passionate about what we do. Based on our firm belief that children learn best when they enjoy what they are doing, all of our school sessions are designed to engage and excite. We can’t stress enough how important it is for children to have access to control physical devices using the code that they create. Without this essential link to the physical world, children often find it difficult to contextualize and understand the purpose of programming.
Our consultants have over twenty five years of experience teaching across schools in Warwickshire, Coventry and Leicestershire. All are enhanced DBS checked and carry electronic proof of this.
We understand the demands on class and subject teachers and want to be able to offer you a package that will not only engage your pupils, but will help you to deliver your computing curriculum.
WORKSHOPS
Using exciting drone technologies, we offer a fantastic hands-on experience for your pupils that brings coding (programming) to life. Even with the host of great apps available for pupils to learn coding, we believe that the most effective and engaging learning experiences are those that offer pupils the chance to experiment with coding using physical devices. Pupils can more easily see the cause and effect of their coding decisions and this encourages them to debug (fault find) and develop their code. Our sessions cover many aspects of the core computer science elements in the Computing Curriculum and provide excellent STEM opportunities.
We will customise our package based on your school needs over either a half or full day. Our sessions are suitable for pupils across Key Stage 1 and 2, and lower Key Stage 3. During the day, we can deliver to multiple groups or classes allowing you to get the best out of our time with you.
Every school is different and we don’t believe in a one-size fits all approach. From the point of your initial enquiry, we will work with you to develop a custom package based around key activity blocks we offer. Every DRONEday package includes:
- Full access to our range of ground and aerial drones
- iPads running Tynker for your pupils to create and debug their code
- Resources for the day including safety equipment for pupil use
- Small group work (maximum group size of 4) ensuring every pupil gets a hands-on experience
- Focused, differentiated challenges
- Experienced education consultant
To ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for your pupils our maximum session size is 30.
We bring all of the resources needed for the day. All you need to provide is a suitable indoor space (a hall or gym being most appropriate) and the children! Our fleet of drones includes both aerial and land-based models and all of the coding is done on iPads using the excellent Tynker app (similar to Scratch). Working in small groups, pupils will be set challenges - creating, testing and debugging programs to control their drone.
OUR FLEET
Airborne Cargo Drone Codename Travis An incredibly stable and manoeuvrable flying drone that can even carry your (Lego) luggage! | Jumping Race Drone Codename Max A self-balancing ground drone that is fast and responsive. Oh and he jumps! | Airborne Agility Drone Codename Mambo A second generation flying drone with enhanced features and a built in grabber! |
OUR FEEDBACK
"The day was absolutely fantastic. The children really enjoyed it, it was well resourced and well organized. Sue was brilliant with the children and gave clear instruction, she made them aware of what to do when they encountered problems.
All the children gained and learned new skills and left the session confident in programming the drone. She also took time to find out what apps children had used previously to enable her to explain the software they were using.
Thanks for organizing this I really recommend it and if there is potential to have her back it would be worth it."
