The Chocolate Cellar offers a range of workshops presented by one of our enthusiastic and experienced chocolatiers. Our passion for chocolate is totally infectious and everyone who attends has come away inspired and enthralled by the art of chocolate making.
The chocolate workshop follows the journey from cocoa bean to chocolate bar and how chocolate is actually made. This is then followed by a chocolate making demonstration. Children are then given the opportunity to design, make and decorate their own chocolate pieces and whilst these are setting there is a chocolate quiz to test their knowledge. Once set, the chocolates are packaged by the children and placed in bags for them to take away.
Little chocolate tasters are passed around during the talk and we would suggest it is best to get parents’ permission in advance. We also use jelly sweets to decorate the chocolate so need to be aware of any vegetarian students prior to the workshop starting.
We bring all the items required for the workshop including any packaging materials, ingredients and a chocolate tank. We can work in a classroom or school hall and only need a couple of power points and tables for the children to work at. We do request that we are working in a cool room to enable the chocolate to set on time and would also suggest that the floor and tables are easily wipe-able! (Although this is generally this is a relatively clean event)
The workshops can be customised to tie in with other curriculum subjects you are teaching for example from a history viewpoint, for maths work, science, English, creative writing or art. If you do wish us to do this please advise at time of booking. We have had visits from several schools to date and have visited others to provide workshops on site and we are happy to supply references from these or offer advice on what these school workshops entailed.
