Fun Crew deliver unique, exciting workshops incorporating cartoon-drawing and graphic storytelling. Children enjoy working with experienced, talented professionals whose work with CBBC, The Beano and Toxic comic they might have seen. Stuart is a reputed cartoon illustrator and Angela an illustrator and writer. She is the author of their 'Spooky Skaters' series for Scholastic which also runs in The Dandy and is being developed for animation.
Fun Crew's dynamic duo produce regular, ongoing comic strips and content for several national children's magazines, can be hired to add a vibrant twist to learning or leisure time. Their services support the visual and creative arts and have exciting potential to enhance diverse areas of learning. They are happy to discuss potential projects and can be adaptable and responsive to your project suggestions.
As children become increasingly familiar with forms of graphica (comics, graphic novels) and cross-platform entertainment (animation, gaming, and online resources) then a graphic approach to understanding can be very engaging. For example, cartoons and comic-strips can be a compelling medium for literacy, history and PHSE education. (Think of the success of Horrible Histories!) Fun Crew have previously undertaken projects ranging from a commemorative mural for Rimrose Hope School celebrating the history of Seaforth and Litherland to an exploration of the cultural significance of Bolton's heraldry and an investigation of healthy eating issues for schools in Sefton.
Fun Crew's workshops are innovative and inspiring. They spark interest and motivation and consistently produce immediate, impressive and confidence-boosting results. Sessions are suitable for individual class groups from age 5 upwards. Workshops can also be tailored to include parents and carers which has proven a popular option at many of their ‘open’ events.
Fun Crew are available for 'Meet the Author/Illustrator' sessions related to World Book Day etc. and can arrange presentations to suit large groups (e.g. year groups or school assemblies). They can also be commissioned to produce bespoke artwork to enhance your schools' environment and can assist brainstorming or think-tank sessions with mind-mapping or visual note-taking to record feedback or help to develop or evolve ideas.
Fun Crew operate nationally and include Kellogg's, Nike, National Geographic Kids among their satisfied customers. Public sector clients include: Extended Schools, Parenting 2000, Sefton Celebrates Writing, Sefton Libraries (Free And Active programme), Bolton Literacy Trust, The Phoenix Cultural Arts Centre and Sedbergh Book Town Buzz.
