A wide spectrum of Viking life and times, from home-life to navigation, gods to battles and having Viking fun is covered in this workshop.
The children take part in a series of educational activities throughout the day, to kick off, enhance or finish your topic with a wow factor. This workshop caters for up to 90 children, more on request.

After short introductory talk, the children commence a series of educational activities for the rest of the morning that include a Viking quiz and game.
The afternoon starts with a weapons and armour display, followed by Viking spear-wrestling and the grand finale - a battle!

Up to 90 children can take part in this workshop.
Our workshop leaders are all experienced re-enactors, amateur archaeologists, historians, authors and teachers. All workshops are based on current archaeological evidence and historical fact. Our aim is to inspire children and stimulate them to do further research and encourage a life-long interest in this fascinating subject.
The Portals to the Past team have appeared in the BBC’s “Horrible Histories”, many historical documentaries, feature films and regularly entertain audiences at museums and historical sites around the country.
