Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 pupils visiting Stockley Farm will experience a day full of fun activities. They will meet and feed the animals, bottle feed the baby lambs and goats, ride on the tractor and trailer and take a walk through the woodland nature trail. During the visit there is a wide selection of farm animals to see as well as horses and ponies and the birds of prey. Visits also include a trip to the popular 'Pets Corner' where children have the opportuntity to hold a selection of baby animals.
After lunch there is time to enjoy the excellent play facilities before the afternoon activities commence. Children have the opportunity to make a book mark and there is a selection of talks to choose from, designed to meet their educational requirements. Farm staff are happy to work with your school if there is a specific subject area you would like to cover during your visit. For Key Stage 1 and 2 Stockley Farm can provide ‘On Farm Workshops’ with a flexible approach to teaching depending on the needs of individual classes. They can combine subjects or do a whole day on one topic and can work to National Curriculum Attainment Targets and link topics to QCA schemes of work. They aim to cover relevant topic areas while keeping the learning experience interactive, with practical sessions throughout the day.
Subjects currently available include: Food and Farming, Interdependence and Adaptation, Organic Farming, Taking Care of Animals and Life processes and Living things.The Farm is a mixed organic dairy and arable farm. The business incorporates the Open Farm Visitor Attraction and Riverford on Stockley Farm Organics. The diversity of the business means that they can offer GCSE and A Level studies in geography, food and farming, organic farming, leisure and tourism, business studies and science based subjects for example selective breeding in plants and animals. We need to add a section about Harvest time visits so could we add "Harvest time is a very important time of year at the farm. Visits include a trip to the vegetable field where children can see and learn where & how we grow the veg through to harvesting it. Also we need to add a section on Christmas time visits "Christmas is a very special time of year at the farm. Children can meet and feed the animals, visit Father Christmas in his magical winter wonderland, and join the Stockley Farm animals in our traditional nativity story.Early booking is essential.
