Acorn Farm is an award-winning, family-friendly visitor attraction and working farm producing free-range meat and eggs and our homemade goats milk ice-cream.

We offer an extensive education programme, giving schools and groups the opportunity to learn about farm animals in a variety of different ways. Whether you are visiting the farm or taking part in our outreach services where the farm may visit you; or through hiring our incubator package to help with the study of life cycles, Acorn Farm offers something for everyone!

We offer guided tours around the farm with the opportunity to feed and handle some of our animals, take part in our goat milking sessions and find out fun facts about our farm animals. Our tours can cover different topics as requested to link in with the national curriculum.

Your group will be welcome to stay at the farm after your tour to enjoy the other facilities we have to offer, which include a café, shop and a fantastic accessible play area which gives children a chance to blow off steam! For those of you wishing to stay all day we have a room available for eating your lunch (can seat a class) or picnic areas, plus the option to pre-book horse rides.

If a visit to the farm isn’t practical for your group, we can bring out a selection of farm animals to your school in our Animobile – helping you to deliver those “wow” moments especially at the start or end of a topic!

Our travelling animals include sheep and goats, various poultry and a rabbit and guinea pig. We may also bring chicks, ducklings, lambs and goat kids when available. Don’t worry if you have bad weather – we can set up indoors our outside if there is shelter available!

With our incubator package, you can enjoy the exciting and educational experience of hatching your own chicks! This package is particularly popular with classes studying new life.

We provide you with an incubator, 1 dozen fertile eggs, brooder and chick crumb plus instruction and support over a 4 week period. Nothing beats the feeling of seeing your first chicks hatching and there’s no need to worry about finding them new homes – chicks can be returned to us with the incubator to join our flock here at the farm!
