The West Midlands Quaker Peace Education Project (WMQPEP) provides individually tailored peacemaker workshops to teach children how to resolve conflict positively and peacefully. The workshops also build other social and personal skills such as cooperation, listening skills and self-esteem. They also train children to be peer mediators and help set up peer mediation schemes in primary schools.

“These sessions have prepared our pupils for their final year at the school with a more mature attitude and have improved the ways in which they resolve conflict. The classes have also become better at working together as a team.” Deputy Head, Shaw Hill Primary School

“They have improved communication skills, empathy and strategies to find non-violent solutions. They’ve really developed socially.” Learning Mentor

“All the activities have helped me to listen a bit more, be more co-operative with people and be more sensible in class and out of school…” Year 5 pupil

The West Midlands Quaker Peace Education Project (WMQPEP) has over twenty years' experience in delivering conflict resolution workshops and training in Primary Schools.

They believe children can learn peaceful relationships and inclusive attitudes within a safe and supportive environment. Full of games and activities to include and mix all the children – and make it fun! They can offer:

A course of Peacemaker workshops for school students in Years 4–6.

Training for school staff in conflict resolution skills when working with children.

Peer Mediation Training and assistance in setting up Peer Mediation Schemes.

Peacemaker workshops in schools teach children key life skills such as communication, emotional literacy, co-operation, problem solving, self-esteem and anger-management. Using Circle Time, the workshops look at how conflicts can escalate, and ways to resolve them peacefully.

Peer Mediation training prepares a group of children to be good peer mediators and helps the school set up a functioning peer mediation scheme. Training and workshops are provided by expert freelance education workers. Their team includes former teachers, social workers, mediators, drama therapists and child psychologists and are all fully CRB checked.

Costs vary depending on the length of the course, each half day session is £175 per class but they can also offer bursaries to help with costs.
