I can come and deliver my cross curricular poetry workshops and give your pupils the freedom of writing poetry. Discussion, mind mapping, improvisation and drama role play are all used on the children's journey to completing their poetry. Everyone of all abilities, including pupil premium groups can participate, from those requiring support to the most able. They can 'break all the rules of writing and grammar', because it's all about choices and how they want to use words and shape 'their poems'.
KS3 / KS2 / KS1 Creative Poetry Workshop Sessions can cover a range of subjects:
- Human Rights
- Black Civil Rights
- Rights Of A Child
- Moving On
- Super Heroes
- Extreme Weather
- Environment & Nature
In writing their poetry your high ability and gifted and talented pupils can be extended and challenged to use:
This is a medium that can build confidence and self esteem, as they see that they can write and that it is valued as an art form.
Black History month now can be so much more than you imagine. Thus, as a well established teacher of many years standing, I have managed and coordinated more than a few whole school, Black History poetry workshop classes. As well as that, I have taken individual classes and groups within school and been instrumental in providing a creative space for the children to write their poems in. Small mentoring groups for Pupil Premium can be facilitated.
This a workshop that explores champions of history, human rights, innovators, slavery, identity, heritage and the challenge of the Middle Passage.
