With a mission to 'Keep Kids Animated!' Theo Godley & Leo Altarelli founded Lunchbox Films in 2005. Combining their film and music skills Theo & Leo have been carrying out their unique animation and music workshops in schools and communities across the UK. Recent awards at national film festivals have seen them gather critical acclaim and this has furthered their mission to help young people create films that have commercial viability and mass appeal!
“A very well made film, lots of teamwork involved and a great learning experience for the children who quite obviously had a tremendous amount of fun in participating”
By entering the magical world of animation they help turn children's ideas into reality. They offer a unique educational experience which is creative, challenging and fun. Lunchbox Films help children work as a team to make films that become a lasting memory for themselves and their families and hopefully inspire a new generation of filmmakers!
Film Workshops in school – provide pupils with the opportunity to have a go at many aspects of film-making from; storyboarding, making sets and models, designing characters, directing scenes, stop-motion animation, recording sound effects and dialogue, and composing a soundtrack. At the end of the workshop they hold a premiere for the finished film. All films are then added to the Lunchbox Films website and onto their associated ‘YouTube’ channel to be shared with family and friends.
Workshops are seen as an organic and creative learning aid that fulfils many aspects of the modern day curriculum. They help support the Music curriculum through making sound effects and background music. They develop ICT skills by using cameras and computer editing programmes. Design and Technology is used when creating puppets, models, sets and scenery while Art comes into play when making promotional posters & flyers or decorating the film set. Literacy is supported through story creation, poetry, script writing, subtitles and credits and Maths is used to measure timings, positions, direction, movement, shape and space.
CPD – workshops allow teachers to get hands on with the latest animation software and camera equipment. These flexible courses will help staff to produce a short animation complete with sound effects and soundtrack. They will also provide the necessary information to help acquire equipment and software that will work for you.
