With 120 acres of park land, Wat Tyler Country Park is one of the most picturesque areas in Essex. The Education team at the Wat Tyler Education Centre can provide you with a wide selection of all year round, indoor and outdoor countryside education to suit your every need. This state-of-the art facility offers Education and Conferencing Facilities for school and community groups, as well as courses for the general public.

The Wat Tyler Centre education suite of 3 classrooms includes: interactive white-boards, digital projectors, digital microscopes, weather station and all the equipment necessary to carry out field studies activities or classroom based exercises.
The new Wat Tyler Centre also boasts a large café, interactive exhibition, gift shop and generous toilet provision. Several historic thatched buildings are available for learning activities, whilst the former dynamite factory provides a fascinating study of industrial archaeology.
Residential Education Facilities and Programme – The ‘Resi’ has 32 children’s bunk beds, in 2 dormitories with dedicated shower/toilet facilities. There are also 6 staff bunks in 2 other dormitories. Catering is provided by Churchill Caterers. The Resi is fitted with air conditioning and central heating services for all-year-round study.
The educational programme ‘Survival Challenge’ is a 2 or 3 day environmental/heritage focussed series of activities including: team building, freshwater investigations, study of the remains of their very own Dynamite factory, craft activities, ‘army training’, nightwalk and campfire.
The excellent new facilities at the Wat Tyler Centre are utilised to the full, as is the 125 acre Wat Tyler Country Park. The ‘Resi’ is also available for private hire by groups wishing to run their own programmes or self cater.
All-Year-Round Day Visit Programme – The Wat Tyler Education Team offers a wide range of day, half day and evening courses for pre-school, primary and older students. These cover topics such as terrestrial/freshwater investigations, history (there are a number of historic thatched buildings and remains of a dynamite factory on site), river studies, art/craft and environmentally focussed topics.
Teachers’ INSET and Adult Education Programmes – They offer a comprehensive range of INSET courses for teachers including: Education Conferences, Forest School related training, Story Telling, Leading Earthwalks, Freshwater Investigations, River Studies, Heritage-based Learning and Outdoor Learning.
Education Team – The Education Team consists of an Education Officer and 4 Education Assistants offer a wealth of teaching experience at Primary, Secondary, Adult and Special Needs levels. They regularly revise their programmes of study, developing new ones and tailoring them to client needs.
