MODEL ROCKET WORKSHOPS

Building, launching and recovering your own model rocket is guaranteed to spark an enthusiasm for science and maths that will last well beyond the workshop activity. Model Rocket Shop’s half or full day workshops deliver an exciting mix of physics, chemistry, maths, space history and design and technology that is FUN for all ages and abilities.

Everything needed for your class, year group or entire school to safely build, launch and recover model rockets is provided. One rocket per pupil is the ideal ratio for full ownership of the experience and a lasting reminder that “Science is Fun”. Team building strategies can be incorporated and as much “hard” science as desired can also be included.

 


ARCHITECTURE WORKSHOP

The Architecture Workshops Association are a small not-for-profit educational organisation, working throughout the UK in Schools, Colleges and Universities. Their Reception to Sixth form Architecture Workshops have been making learning fun since 1996. Designed for all Key Stages, these unique handson experiences of integrated curricular activities bring together the six strands of the national curriculum's Pupil Learning & Thinking Skills Framework.

The workshops engage students in fun activity whilst helping them develop as Creative Thinkers, Effective Participants, Independent Enquirers, Self Managers and Team Workers, through a combination of individual and group work, design problem solving and creativity. Underlying the requirements for communication, cooperative skills, logistical reasoning, critical evaluation and self reflection.

 Nigel provides innovative and creative practical workshops for all ages and abilities encompassing Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Whether you’re looking to enhance your day to day curriculum, provide creative revision sessions, or want a practical and fun workshop relating to the ‘real world’ and which helps inspire, enthuse and motivate your pupils he has something to suit your needs.

K’botics (K’nex Robotics)

If you’re looking for that extra special workshop, why not consider the rapidly growing and exciting world of K’nex ‘Battling Robots’. Using a standard powered base unit, design, build and battle your very own K’nex robot against other competitors in the battle arena…suitable for all ages and abilities K’botics provides all the excitement of a ‘Robot Wars’ style activity but at a fraction of the price!


SCIENCE OXFORD NEXT

The Mission at Science Oxford Next is to work with schools to connect young people with science and enterprise. Pupils develop their skills; teachers find renewed enthusiasm as they seize the opportunity to interact with role models. Science Oxford Next inspires your pupils to become the next generation of creative citizens.

Workshops involve practical challenges and investigations. Shows are full of inspiring demonstrations designed to stimulate pupils’ thinking and enable them to share and discuss their own ideas. Available as a full or part-day programme to fit your school timetable. Can be tailored to each school and can include a mixture of activities for different key stages.


THAMES BARRIER INFORMATION AND LEARNING CENTRE

 

 The Thames Barrier Information and Learning Centre runs educational packages for school groups based around environmental and engineering themes. The activities follow the National Curriculum for Key Stages 2 and 3 for a range of subjects including science and geography. The Centre is based in the southeast of London next to the River Thames and the Thames Barrier.

The Learning Centre packages range from river walks and pond dipping, to role-play games such as the ‘River of life’. Activities are designed to get children thinking about their environment and the environmental challenges we face, as well as encouraging an interest in science and geography.


 TD - ARTWORK

Tim Davies is a practising artist based in London with over ten years experience of leading workshops and projects in Primary Schools, Youth Centres and Community Art Groups. He specialises in school grounds development and large scale sculptural installations both inside schools and in school grounds. His workshops emphasise experimentation and artistic investigation, drawing ideas from original source material and real life experience.

 

Tim offers a wide choice of schools workshops with an emphasis on 3D techniques. The workshops range from one day sessions to longer projects resulting in permanent sculptural installations and carnival processions.
