I have personally recommended Doug Melia and his colleagues to other schools and organisations” - J. Harrison, All Hallows Catholic High School, Penwortham“The lessons are well structured and paced and involve safely managed practical activity within a well humoured environment. Student Courses
Full session plans and schemes of work are available on request. Courses can be tailored as assemblies, half or full day options, or as super learning day using one hour slots for each group. Our specialist instructors are employed, vetted and trained directly by ourselves and have been selected for their subject specific experience and qualifications.
Self Defence and Personal Safety
Defend UK disregard the traditional image of self defence classes only taught by six foot, muscle bound males wearing Karate suits. Instead we promote a self defence system that is elementary and effective irrespective of your age, size or physical ability.
The course, now in it’s 17th year has been accredited by Edexcel and includes personal safety advice to encourage participants to avoid putting themselves in vulnerable situations in the first place.
First Aid
Our HSE approved courses are often delivered as part of the BTEC sport criteria or as part of the JSL award. Tailored according to the age range and subject group, our instructors having spent many years working within school, sporting and varied specialist environments themselves and bring relevant realism into the sessions.

• What would they do if their friend fell into the canal?
