Candoco Dance Company was founded in 1991 by Celeste Dandeker and Adam Benjamin. The company developed from workshops led by Celeste and Adam at the Aspire centre, and grew quickly into the first company of its kind in the UK – a professional dance company focused on the integration of disabled and non-disabled dancers.
At the heart of our work are our national and international productions, created by world class choreographers. Alongside these, through our Learning and Development projects and activities we provide access to the highest quality of work for people participating in dance for pure enjoyment, or as part of a developing career.
And Who Shall Go To The Ball? – Resource for Schools and Colleges
In 2010 And Who Shall Go To The Ball? was reconstructed and especially re-filmed in the company’s dance studio for this Resource for Schools and Colleges. This specially created resource gives teachers and students access to all sections of the work close up, 4 specific sections for students to learn and shots of the set. And Who Shall Go To The Ball? is one of the prescribed works on the AQA GCSE Dance Specification and is suitable for study for GCSE Dance and other school and college dance courses. It is the only resource of this type from a company of disabled and non-disabled dancers and is therefore of value to all dance teachers and students, whether in Key Stage 3 or Higher Education.
