Established in 2003, Debutots is the UK’s premier Drama-in-Education company for the early years. Engaging children with their fun-filled original stories, Debutots classes use interactive storytelling and dramatic play as a learning tool for children up to the end of Key Stage 1. Mapped to the EYFS and KS1 curricula, these unique sessions will empower children with confidence, creativity and a love of language.
“The children really enjoy the after school club. The stories engage their imaginations and they have all developed their ability to express ideas and feelings in a fun and imaginative way. The sessions are so exciting and enjoyable for all. Thank you so much!” - Nuala McKinney, St. Finian's Primary School, Belfast
“We were delighted with the Debutots workshops in our school. This was primarily for Key Stage 1 pupils who thoroughly enjoyed all the classes and the improvement in their confidence was evident.” - Victoria Park Primary School, Andrea Gourley Headmistress
On a weekly basis, school children are immersed in magical worlds of pretend play where they might physically explore rhyme doing the ‘Snuffle Shuffle’ with Henrietta Hedgehog or learn about road safety with Rafi the Rhino travelling to Safari School for the first time. Debutots has been expertly developed to map with the EYFS and Key Stage 1. The links are clearly outlined in the Debutots Creative Planning Pack © - a planning and observation resource provided to nurseries and schools when they book regular sessions.
Nursery and school children enjoy Debutots’ engaging approach to learning as part of their weekly curriculum, an after-school club or during PPA time. Equally, teachers and nursery workers are able to reap the benefits of incorporating an enriching cross-curricular activity into their nursery or school, led by inspiring specialist practitioners who work within the proven Debutots framework. Jackie Ridsdale, Parkside School, where Debutots work weekly with the 2-7’s, sees the change it’s made to their year groups: “The Debutots sessions are excellent. The children are really enjoying it and I notice how valuable it is in helping them to gain confidence and self expression." Since 2003, nurseries and schools have continued to outsource
Debutots’ expertise term after term. Beverley Craig, Nursery Manager at Little Gem’s Nursery, said, “Debutots is fantastic and the children in our nursery really enjoy it. It is very beneficial to the children’s communication skills and we have seen improvement in their memory the way they can recall the stories. We like the way it also follows the curriculum and that’s why we are having Debutots back again into our nursery.”
