Apple of my Eye has nearly twenty years of experience of working with children and families. Michaela created the ‘Health and Well Being Project’ for schools in Liverpool East and the innovative ‘Fuel for Learning Workshops’ bringing breakfast events for schools. She is competent in understanding school’s individual needs and requirements to be able to serve their diverse communities.
We employ professionally trained, fully insured Food Advisors to deliver sessions, all school staff possess enhanced disclosures.
We focus on positive aspects of learning and pride ourselves on linking in with existing planning within the school or delivering a Scheme of Work on Food and Nutrition as a ‘stand-alone’ subject.
All our Schemes of Work and lesson plans are developed to support the new National Curriculum.
We are also able to deliver lessons to small groups or whole school theme days to large groups of children depending on the individual requirements of your school. Our Workshops can cater for up to 30 children at any one time and last up 60 minutes.
Lessons are closely linked to the learning objectives and topics currently being taught, from ‘The Victorians’ to ‘World Foods’. They are differentiated for all year groups by the level of support, skills and demonstration of techniques.
JUST A FEW OF MANY TOPICS WE COVER:
All sessions are fully equipped with child-friendly cooking equipment that has been tried, tested and approved by hundreds of children and adults alike in our sessions.
Apple of my Eye wants to give children an experience when in the classroom environment, enriching the curriculum with exciting new learning opportunities that will give the WOW to a topic, these are created by our workshop events.
Apple of my Eye also offers a consistent service to schools through offering a Service Level Agreement on a yearly or termly contract. Here are a few of our Headteachers who use our service:
"I would certainly recommend this service to any school; educational setting or community group and indeed we have used Apple of my Eye Education before in one of my early year’s settings when Michaela spent the day with our Chef teaching them better ways of cooking and presenting food to much younger children and babies. An outstanding company without a doubt."
Erica Williams - Operations Director, ABC Pre-school Limited. Leeds, Warrington and Manchester"Michaela, has worked extensively within our school, is a real asset and credit to our school community and it’s ethos. Her friendly, positive manner – organised and practical approach has been well received by all staff. I Can’t stress enough how brilliantly she adapts to meet the needs of our learners, teaching, directing and creating delicious dishes in a stimulating “hands on way”. She clearly feels passionate about her work and goes above and beyond to ensure her message is delivered. Florence Melly are extremely grateful to Michaela and her team, we consider their work invaluable and an intrinsic part of our curriculum. Outstanding work in an area of paramount importance and of the utmost benefit to our pupils now and in the future."
