Set in 15 acres of rural Somerset, Hill House Christian Centre is a fantastic location for school residential trips. The Centre provides a programme to excite, challenge and encourage pupils to appreciate and enjoy the environment around them while also learning to value each other. A residential experience is a great opportunity to explore the whole person allowing pupils to develop personal and social skills, build self esteem and learn about themselves.
TESTIMONIALS
“Hill House combines fantastic facilities and activities within a supportive, Christian ethos which perfectly matches that of our school. Children are supported and guided but at the same time challenged and stretched so that they are happy and comfortable to push themselves outside of their comfort zone and try something new.”
Janine Ashman, Yr 6 Teacher, Trinity Anglican Methodist Primary School“This genuinely is a home away from home…great food, inspirational leaders and beautiful surroundings, a memorable experience for all the right reasons!”
Emma Charlton, Yr 6 Teacher, St Andrew’s CofE Primary School Weymouth
Why choose to have your Residential at Hill House Christian Centre?
Because ...
• We care about engaging your pupils in quality learning situations
• We are committed to the continuing development of our outdoor classroom
• We aim to deliver a wide choice of on-site and off-site activities
• We provide excellent food and comfortable accommodation
We aim to link activities with the curriculum to provide relevant, interactive, dynamic and inspirational lessons that bring the residential experience to life, all within the context of a Christian ethos. Sometimes activities are seen as a separate part of any educational programme but they can be used very effectively to help develop a whole range of experiences.
Activities provide a mix of opportunities involving problem solving, decision making, teamwork, etc and whilst retaining the fun element of the activities there are many attitudes that can be encouraged. Your week can be as full and active as you wish. Programmes are a mix of fun and learning, with plenty of on site activities and a day where you have the choice of ‘doing your own thing’, or going off site to do high ropes, low ropes, kayaking, raft and bridge building or climbing and caving.
