“A highly professional organisation with excellent staff and facilities” LotC Quality Badge and Adventure mark Assessment (June 2009)
“Closer to the Edge in a box’ LOtC kits are brilliant, it does what it says – engagement improves performance and productivity at all levels.” Paul Elliot, Headteacher South Staffs
Our highly qualified and experienced team use their extensive military training and teaching backgrounds to develop essential learning skills in the outdoors. Creating and developing a positive learning culture is essential if young people are to maximise performance in an inclusive environment.
All of our activities have documented and meaningful links to KS2 ‘Essentials for life and learning’ and KS3/4 PLTS. Our ‘Core values of effective team’ are made explicit during activity and review, arming individuals and groups with the knowledge and understanding of their dramatically improved performance. Transfer this practice to other learning environments and create more productive teams and individuals. Our ‘active outdoor learning’ settings include High Ropes, Low Ropes, Survival and Bushcraft, field camps, Woodland Challenge, Mobile Climbing Wall, Problem Solving and Team Development Activities. Our courses range in length, from 2 hours to 5 days. Central to our philosophy is the recognition that individuals have different learning needs according to their varied and multiple intelligences.
Whatever the activity we encourage and enable groups to work beyond the ‘comfort zone’ – Once there, heightened awareness and focus allows for meaningful effective learning with significant impact for all attending. Suitable for; KS3/4 & 5 Mainstream, SEN, Inclusion Groups, PRU’s, Prefects, Leadership, Progressive Courses, INSET, Teacher Training Placements etc – through consultation allow us to tailor your course to suit your needs.
If you wish to develop and sustain essential personal learning and thinking skills then consider our new active outdoor learning kits; ‘Closer to the Edge in a Box’ is a portable robust box offering a huge range of experiential learning activities. The kit comes with a training package for up to 8 staff who can then facilitate and deliver whole school and ‘In House’. We also provide a consultancy service to enable you to develop your site and deliver purposeful LOtC activities.
